Applied Data Science & Observational Research Skills
Apply skills in data science & observational research and learn alongside your peers with advanced lecture content and live, hands-on virtual study groups led by faculty group facilitators. Scholars who register for this 2-credit course will also be enrolled in Fundamentals of Healthcare Data & Delivery Science concurrently, earning a total of 3 graduate credits with a focus in Data Science & Observation Research.

In addition to the topics covered in Fundamentals, data science and observational research advanced topics include identifying a good research question; matching research questions to research designs; observational study designs and threats to validity; data sources and measures including the electronic health record, registries, claims data, surveys, and contextual data; and prediction, simulation modeling, and cost-effectiveness overview.

By the end of this course, you will apply advanced knowledge in data science and observation research to draft a research proposal or project idea. This course is suitable for individuals with an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree. Senior research managers with master’s degrees may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, please inquire for more information if you are in this category.
